The academic Learning Management System (LMS) is a fixture in distributed learning. This presentation will examine the evolution and architecture of academic and commercial Learning Management Systems. We will talk about how they work and what they do and how they got to be that way. We will then explore the future of the LMS in distributed learning, or of what might take their place.
