Shodor announces new Saturday workshops for 6th-12th grade students who like math, science, and computers

Durham, NC - This fall, teens across the Triangle will learn technology skills through Shodor’s “21st Century Workforce Skills” workshop series. These workshops, once reserved for Shodor’s Apprenticeship Program participants, are now available to all interested 9th through 12th grade students.  The workshops will be held at Shodor’s offices in the Durham Centre, located at 300 West Morgan Street.

Each month, students will have the opportunity to explore a specific topic such as “web design” (full range of topics listed below) over three consecutive Saturday sessions and will receive a certificate to denote the successful completion of each workshop. Students can choose to attend one or all of the workshops in the series.

In addition to these workshops for high school students, Shodor will continue its SUCCEED Saturday Explorations for middle school students. These computational science workshops for 6th through 8th graders will be held at Shodor’s offices in Durham and on the campus of NC Central University. Activities will encourage students to investigate the world around them through hands-on and interactive computer simulations in scientific modeling, graphic design, and web design.  For more information and to register, visit http://www.shodor.org/calendar or call (919)530-1911.
