A new report from Blackboard and Project Tomorrow summarizes PT's Speak Up 2010 survey results and observed trends. You can register on Blackboard's white paper site to download a free PDF of the report: Learning in the 21st Century: 2011 Trends Update.

Key trends noted discusssed include:

  • Who is learning online?  high school student involved in online learning have tripled since 2008
  • What are the drivers? increased personal familiarity by teachers/administrators; more demand from students and parents; and new value propositions for administrators
  • What are the barriers? lack of funding; evaluating quality of online courses; low teacher interest in online teaching (one-third)
