National Academy Press puts all 4,000 books online, no charge...

The National Academies Press (NAP) is offering its entire PDF catalog of books for free - as downloadable PDFs. NAP previously offered 65% of its titles for free, and has now opened that up to the entire catalog of reports and books.

Says Barbara Kline Pope, “The 35 percent that we are adding today will reach a wider audience, and we are doing it because it’s central to our mission to get this information to everyone."
