Utilizing the proposed AbstractAPI

  • The OAI ingest process currently identifies and maintains Resource and Aggregation objects. Not used in the Abstract API.
  • Harvested metadata records are identified by their incoming OAI identifiers. These are guaranteed to be unique for a given metadata source, so they allow for tracking the records within the NDR. The abstract GetRecord request has a recoprdID parameter, but it is defined only as an "identifier/handle" - not sure if this will be sufficient. OAI identifiers may be duplicated across providers.
