Community Sign-On (CSO) is an NSDL initiative to implement single-sign on across partner services. CSO allows users to move seamlessly between NSDL partner sites, making them easier to access while simultaneously increasing security and convenience for the user. It will also enable participating sites to more closely integrate their services while effectively raising their potential user base by removing the registration step as a barrier to use.
NSDL partners interested in participating in CSO are encouraged to start by consulting the Implementation Roadmap, which gives an overview of the steps required as well as providing contact details for more information.
CSO uses Shibboleth as its underlying technology. Shibboleth is an Internet2 open-source project for web-based single sign-on.
