Title: Using Data in the Classroom

Information: http://serc.carleton.edu/usingdata/index.html This portal and collection provide resources to support faculty and teachers in using data to engage students in inquiry based activities in their courses. Resources include information about why one might wish to use data, examples of effective use, on-line access to data sets and tools, classroom activities, and ideas for evaluation and assessment. The resource collection is interdisciplinary with a high concentration of tems from the geosciences and environmental sciences. A special section of the portal is designed for resource developers and contains recommendations for future development of tools and design scenarios. The content is drawn in part from the NSDL-CI Using Data in the Classroom workshop, from discussions at the 2002 DLESE Annual Meeting, and from the NAGT/DLESE Cutting Edge Workshop "Using Global Data Sets in Teaching Earth Processes.
