Title: National Geographic Xpeditions (Expeditions)
Information: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/xpeditions/ Created by the National Geographic Society and MCI, this mammoth site focuses on the 18 U.S. geography standards established in 1994. Besides listing these standards in full, the Xpedi-tion Hall introduces students to key geographic terms through mini-activities. Xpedition Hall contains 26 different exhibits ranging from mind-mapping to understanding what constitutes a geographical region. Another useful tool for teachers is the Atlas, containing over 600 National Geographic maps that can be formatted for standard paper, printed, and reproduced for educational projects. There is also a forum for educators to share ideas about teaching geography.
