InTeGrate - Opportunities for Participation and Collaboration
Suggest a Module Topic
One focus of
the InTeGrate project will be to develop a new introductory course that
emphasizes the potential of the geosciences to address societal challenges. To
build this course, we are encouraging faculty to submit ideas for the creation
of new introductory-level modules. We seek ideas for modules that will use one
or more concepts within the geosciences to address a societal issue, will identify
connections between at least two components of the earth system and will
develop geoscience literacy.
Modules should support teaching for approximately one to two weeks of class and
lab time and be adaptable for a variety of class sizes, departments and
institutions.
Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis over a two year period.

Assessment
is an important part of the InTeGrate effort to create new teaching materials
and implement them in the undergraduate curriculum. We are seeking faculty and
evaluation specialists to join us in the assessment of new curriculum materials
and courses.
The assessment team will design the assessment program, develop needed
instruments or tools, support the development and implementation teams and
evaluate the curriculum materials. The team will also focus on measuring the
impact of materials on student learning. They will guide the development teams
in embedding assessments that will allow monitoring of students' progress
toward learning goals suitable for the project.
Team members will receive a stipend of $5000 per year, which reflects a
commitment to 1 month of effort. All travel expenses will be covered by the
project grant. We anticipate team members will serve for 3-5 years.
Please consider joining us in this important work. Go to http://serc.carleton.edu/integrate/assessment_team.html for the application or contact David Steer
(330-972-2099 or steer@uakron.edu).
