This developing site is a resource area for the NSDL network of projects and partners (both established and developing) concerned with developing effective evaluation practice and processes that enable, routinize, and advance reporting of data that contribute to the research and knowledge base revealing:
See the Metrics resource pages for metrics snapshots on NSDL sites, and related information.
Feel free to add links to interesting Web content about evaluation, impact, and measuring learning (contact Eileen McIlvain if you would like assistance on posting):
These two reports are related - reporting on a two-year study to analyze and evaluate over 200 published articles and reports on STEM professional learning communities, from 1995 to present - valuable synthesis!
www.perfettimedia.com - Consulting and training by Christine Perfetti: content design best practices, usability, and user experience. Free videos, as well as opportunities to attend free webinars on these topics. Good tips on maximizing user experience; do's/don'ts on web page design; do-able usability testing.

This is a developing site for assembling topically-oriented bibliographies of interest to the NSDL community. Stay tuned as this is developed.
Feel free to add your comments or suggestions for the development of reference lists for in specific topical areas (e.g. digital resource use in classrooms, pedagogy, assessment, etc.).
Thanks!
This bibliography includes publications, presentations, posters, and websites published by primary investigators and staff of the National Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education (STEM) Distributed Learning Program (NSDL).
Designed to become a comprehensive bibliography of NSDL-authored materials, we encourage contribution of APA-formatted references from all NSDL-funded projects, current and former. Use the Contact NSDL form with subject line "NSDL Bibliography", or contact eileen@ucar.edu

This Metrics area is the place to post new content relating to metrics collection, analysis, trends, observations, etc. for the National Science Digital Library.
Monthly metrics snapshots for NSDL sites:
Notes: NSDl undertook infrastructure transition in October and November 2011 that resulted in necessary downtimes and reduced usage. We also decommissioned certain services as unsustainable in the long-term, for UCAR: Expert Voices blogging environment, NSDL Wiki, and OnRamp Content Management System.
NSDL uses Google Analytics (GA) for web metrics reporting. All NSDL-funded projects may request a GA code snippet from NSDL to implement on their sites, which will enable aggregate usage metrics from their sites to be combined with those for NSDL sites—"roll-up" reporting across multiple sites.
To request the code: please send an email to nsdlsupport@nsdl.ucar.edu, with subject line: "NSDL code snippet for GA". (Identify the project and PI in your request). These requests come in via NSDL's Request Tracker system, and will help us keep track of overall requests.
The more projects that implement the code, the better we are able to report on overall NSDL projects' usage and impact.
The NSDL Metrics Working Group was convened in January 2009 to discuss and formulate recommendations to the NSDL community on best practices for use of metrics in project planning, implementation, and management. The group met from February 2009 through April 2010, and collaboratively authored the resulting report.
The report will also be published at this location in web page format so that community commentary, suggestions, and/or submission of additional metrics vignettes can be possible.
Please provide comment on any aspect of the report by using the Got Metrics? forum, or by sending your comments to the NSDL support system via the Contact NSDL webform. Thanks!
Forums are discussion areas that can be created by any Community site member interested in generating discussion on particular topics.
Groups are somewhat larger 'containers' for content, and have more flexibility - they can be open to all (publicly available), or can be restricted to just specific members (closed group), as in the case of a specific working group for a specific purpose, or related to a specific project, or a combination of access. Groups can contain wiki pages, forums, polls, and other features that can be customized to specific purposes. They typically contain a sidebar menu that details the content of the group site.
*Roll-up reporting refers to aggregated totals for multiple NSDL metrics accounts. Additional sites are added as partner projects implement NSDL Google Analytics code in their sites. Projects included in roll-up reporting:
Added July 2012:
NSF/NSDL-funded partners may request the NSDL Google Analytics code for insertion in their sites, by sending email to: nsdlsupport@nsdl.ucar.edu, or use the Contact form with subject line "NSDL code snippet for GA". Please identify your project name, NSF award number, and principle investigator (PI) in your request.
