Question

if f(x) = [ (x^2 + 2)^3 ]^1/2, then f '(x)= A. [3(x^2 + 2)^1/2 ]/ 2 B. 3x(x^2 + 2)^1/2 C.[6x(x^2 + 2)^2]^1/2 D. 3x/ (x^2 + 2)^1/2 E. 4x/3(x^2 + 2)^1/3

Answer

You can find the answer to the problem by rewriting the expression a bit. By combining the powers outside the parentheses you can get (x^2+2)^(3/2). Then use the derivative formula for u(x)^n where u(x)=x^2+2 and n=3/2. The derivative can be found from n *[u^(n-1)] (du/dx). Try this and see if you can get it. http://vrd.askvrd.org/services/answerschema.xml
