Question

What is acid rain?

Answer

Acid rain is caused by chemicals (usually pollutants from burning coal, oil, or gasoline) that dissolve in the rain and make it acidic. These chemicals are converted to acids such as sulfuric acid and nitric acid in the atmosphere and are absorbed by the water in clouds.
