Death and Dying
how am I going to die?
Well, that can depend a lot upon your age, gender, race and where you live. In the United States, the Center for Disease Control keeps statistics related to causes of death. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/major/dvs/mortdata.htm) Based on data from 2001, some of the leading causes of death among all Americans include heart disease, cancer , stroke and accidents. These vary by race. It also depends on your age. The leading cause of death in Americans aged 0-40 is accidents. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/LCWK1_2001.pdf) Interestingly enough, Americans are also slightly more likely to die on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) than during the week. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/VS00100.TABLE14_2000.pdf
