Title: Where can I find information and pictures of the planets?

Information: I am creating a science project about the solar system. Where can I find information and pictures of the planets? Thank you for submitting your question to AskNSDL. There is an exceptional resource with images of solar bodies, including asteroids and comets. NASA Planetary PhotoJournal - This website indexes full-color pictures of individual planets and "small bodies," asteroids and comets. TIFF and JPEG formats are available. http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/index.html Here are some other great sites with information on planets. To find these websites I used Yahooligans! http://www.yahooligans.com). I searched on "planets". The Nine Planets "The Nine Planets is an overview of the history, mythology, and current scientific knowledge of each of the planets and moons in our solar system. Each page has text and images; some have sounds and movies. Most provide references to additional related information." http://seds.lpl.arizona.edu/nineplanets/nineplanets/ Planetary Fact Sheets Provides facts about the size, orbit, and atmosphere of the planets, moons, and asteroids. http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/planetfact.html From Mercury to Pluto This site has information about our planets, the universe, and space exploration. It's a 1998 ThinkQuest project. http://library.thinkquest.org/18188/english/ Astronomy for Kids: The Solar System Offers information about the planets, the sun, and the moon. http://www.astronomy.com/content/static/AstroForKids/ Virtual Solar System from National Geographic "Discover the wonders of our solar system in 3-D. Take a fly-by tour of the sun and each planet in its orbit; plus, get close-up views of the planets, extraterrestrial weather patterns, and more." http://www.nationalgeographic.com/solarsystem/index.html The Bodies in Our Solar System Information about the Solar System from NASA http://www.solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/index.cfm You may also want to try your school library or local public library for more information about planets.
