Answer

Hi Kym,,
One of the uses of mag sulfate is in the beer and wine-making industry. It is used as an additive to increase the dissolved salt concentration so the yeast have a more favorable environment in which to perform the process of fermentation. It also tends to "sweeten" the water to your taste. It performs the same task for those people who live in areas where the mineral content is naturally low.

Hope this helps http://vrd.askvrd.org/services/answerschema.xml
