Though use of graphs are not always generated, the basic equation is frequently used.
Parabolas are used in optics for light focusing - a flashlight. They also can be applied to objects being thrown up at an angle as the plot of distance versus time would show a parabolic arc.
Line graphs are used for observing change over time such as a vehicle travelling at a constant speed.
Hyperbola - ok, I cannot think of this off hand.
Exponential graph - decays of radioactive substances, the decay of the charge in a capacitor through a resistor, or the current increase through an inductor with a series resistor. These all use the exponential graph when plotting over time.
