Scientific Markup Languages
Room: Federal A
Laura Bartolo
The purpose of this BOF would be to lay the foundation for ongoing discussion among projects concerning domain specific scientific markup languages. Targeted audience would be projects employing such languages currently and projects interested in learning about their potential use. The short-term goal of the BOF would be to discuss the use of markup languages in the NSDL community and the long-term goal would be to investigate interest in hosting a workshop on scientific markup languages. Specifically the session would focus on:
- finding out more about the use and interest in relevant markup languages within NSDL community
- considering how the NSDL community might work together to promote them, and
- discussing how CI might support or promote specific markup languages.

I think that a workshop on scientific markup languages is needed and that NSDL could play a key role in organizing the ML aspect of DL's. I would be willing to survey the current activity in SciML's and report my findings to this swiki if folks would think that useful. I am also willing to laise with Peter Murray-Rust and Henry-Rzepa on CML and make sure that they are invited/attend any workshop that is held.
